Wide beaches, dunes and salt marshes on Eiderstedt, with a look at Westerheversand lighthouse.

Space beside the sea

Sankt Peter-Ording combines a broad North Sea beach with dunes and the landscapes of Eiderstedt. The weather changes the colours, sounds and visibility. Even without a summit, there is plenty of room for an open view.

Westerheversand lighthouse

The red-and-white lighthouse near Westerhever is a separate destination on Eiderstedt. It stands outside Sankt Peter-Ording in a salt-marsh landscape. Plan a visit as a walk in its own right: the approach is as much a part of the experience as the familiar view.

Respect the Wadden Sea

Tides, wind and protected-area rules are part of the planning. Salt marshes are sensitive habitats. Keep to permitted paths and follow local signs; choose a suitable guided outing for a walk across the tidal flats.
