On the Grande Traversata delle Alpi I walked from Lake Orta to the Aosta Valley. This long-distance walk has its own place here.

From Lake Orta to the Aosta Valley

My walk on the Grande Traversata delle Alpi took me from Lake Orta to the Aosta Valley. Known as the GTA, this journey has its own article alongside the Munich–Venice Dream Trail and my other hiking regions.

My section of the GTA

This describes the section I walked, rather than a claim to have completed the entire GTA. I started at Lake Orta and finished in the Aosta Valley.

Preparing a long-distance walk

For your own trip, consult current maps and trail notices, check accommodation and leave room for weather and recovery. Suitable daily distances depend on conditions and your abilities. This introduction focuses on the personal outline of my walk.
