Alpine pastures, valleys and the distinctive peaks of the Dolomites: South Tyrol combines mountain scenery with space for a thoughtful approach to the outdoors.

Val di Funes and the Geisler peaks

The Geisler peaks shape the view of the Dolomites from Val di Funes, also known as Villnößtal. Meadows, woodland and steep rock faces create striking contrasts. The valley is more than a backdrop: it is a place where people live and work.

Walking below the summits

The Adolf Munkel trail runs beneath the Geisler peaks. Around Zans, woodland and alpine pasture paths offer views of the mountains. A walk need not reach a summit to provide a memorable encounter with the landscape.

Respect for nature and people

Check the weather, path conditions and your own abilities before setting out. Stay on designated paths, leave grazing animals undisturbed and carry your rubbish out. Allow room for a break or a shorter alternative.
