Limestone cliffs, a narrow ridge and beech woodland give the Ith its distinctive character.
Rock and woodland
Rock formations and changing woodland make individual stretches of the Ith rewarding.
A few highlights
Ithturm on the Krüllbrink is a lookout destination in the northern Ith. Near Lauenstein, the castle ruins and ridge woodland add historic and natural interest. Spring corydalis flowers can provide a seasonal highlight. Rocky and wet paths require care.

Local warnings and on-site advice take precedence over general website information. Before setting out, ask local people, hut hosts or local experts about paths and weather: they know their home region and can explain current conditions. Their advice complements your own preparation and official warnings.
