A long ridge of woodland and distinctive rock formations: the Ith is a hiking region of its own, combining quiet paths with open views.

A ridge with character

The Ith forms part of the Lower Saxon hills. Its wooded slopes and rock formations give it a recognisable outline from a distance. Walking here changes the perspective, from the shape of the ridge to small details beside the path.

One section at a time

The Ith-Hils trail explores the region in several sections. A day out does not need to become a complete long-distance walk. Choosing a suitable section leaves room to notice the landscape without rushing.

Pay attention to the path

Roots, stones and wet ground can slow your progress. Preparation includes allowing extra time and checking current trail notices. Rocks and their surroundings are habitats, so follow local signs and keep to designated paths.
