Woodland, limestone and open views give the Süntel its distinctive character. Hohenstein and Hohe Egge are two landmarks of this part of the Weser Uplands.
Between woodland and rock
The Süntel combines wooded hills with striking rock formations. Around Hohenstein, sheltered woodland gives way to an open landscape. There is no need to rush towards a viewpoint: the forest walk is part of the experience.
Hohenstein and Hohe Egge
The cliffs of Hohenstein and the Süntel tower on Hohe Egge are well-known destinations. A suitable route depends on your time, the weather and your own abilities. A viewpoint can be a destination without becoming an obligation.
Walking with consideration
Keep to designated paths, stay back from cliff edges and follow protected-area notices. Wet roots and stones require attention. Allow time for breaks rather than planning the entire day around a fixed walking time.
