Wooded hills and views across the Leinebergland: the area around Alfeld is another place where I go walking.
Walking around Alfeld
The Alfelder Berge are among my hiking regions. Compared with the open heathland, the area around Alfeld offers a different setting: wooded hills and views across the Leinebergland.
The Sieben Berge
One regional example is the Sieben Berge loop of the Roter Hödeken trail. The official description leads from Alfeld through the wooded hills towards Himmelberg and identifies the Himmelberg tower as a viewpoint.
Woodland paths alternate with opportunities for a wider view. When choosing a walk, the elevation profile matters as well as the distance: the same number of kilometres can feel very different in hilly terrain.
